The Manville Area federal Credit Union was originally known as the J-M Employees Federal Credit Union. The J-M Employees Federal Credit Union came into being through the concerted efforts of a small group of Johns Manville employees who saw the need for cooperative consumer credit and who found the answer to that need in the Credit Union movement.
Consequently, the J-M Employees Federal Credit Union was organized on April 21, 1937 and the Federal Charter was formally issued May 5, 1937.

Times have certainly changed-look at us today! This growth has been possible through the dedicated service of many members, who during the past Seventy Five Years , have given time, effort and service, with no reward, except the satisfaction of helping their fellow men and women.
By the way, in 1986 the Board of Directors changed the name of the J-M Employees Federal Credit Union to the Manville Area Federal Credit Union to more accurately represent our growing field of membership.
Your Credit Union exists today, just as it did in 1937, to provide financial services to help make your life easier. It is our sincere desire to provide the most efficient friendly and helpful service possible to each and everyone of you.
Remember, MAFCU is a nonprofit cooperative financial institution owned and controlled by the people who use its services. Members save at their Credit Union and MAFCU then uses those funds to make low cost loans to other members. The income generated from loans and investments allow the Credit Union to offer other financial services, usually at little or no cost to our members. Since MAFCU is a nonprofit financial organization, we almost always offer better rates on savings and on loans to our members.
That's what we are all about. We're certain that the people who formed this Credit Union nearly Seventy Five Years ago would be proud to see the results of what they started. We are here to carry on that tradition of "People Helping People".
